bay

Bay windows can appear a little tricky to measure, please find below a helpful guide which we think might help you.  Remember, this is only a guide as everybody's windows are different, so please feel free to deduct more if you think this is appropriate, or if in doubt send me a picture of your window and where you intend to fix your tracks and I can advise you and tell you exactly where to measure.

Firstly, you have to remember that the tracks cannot go right into the corners, they have to be placed so that when your roman blinds are up they do not clash with the blind next to them.  The measurements below are the recommended minimum adjustments.  If you are having extra long blinds or having interlining which can make the blinds thicker, you may want to deduct a little more at the angles as the folds in the blinds may protrude more.

Tip - some people find it useful to get two pieces of card cut to the relevant depth ie. 3cms for manual wooden tracks/4cms for sidewinder tracks and to get someone to hold these in each angle of the bay, with the depth of the card imitating the depth of the track to actually see where the tracks would be best placed next to each other.  The ends of the tracks cannot touch.

The guide below is based on manual wooden tracks - if using sidewinder tracks please deduct an extra 1cm from the corners.

Note: The 1cm deduction at the end of the bay window may vary and is a guide only - some people may want the blind to extend to the edge of the wall, or some people may want the blind to end in line with the window frame, or have a picture rail to take into consideration, etc..

BELOW IS A MEASURING GUIDE FOR BLINDS BEING FIXED OUTSIDE THE WINDOW RECESS IE. ONTO THE WALL ABOVE - IF THE BLINDS ARE BEING FIXED INSIDE THE WINDOW RECESSES THEN PLEASE USE THE 'MEASURING GUIDE FOR INSIDE RECESSES'.
